This year, Pantone’s Color of the Year is Moocha Mousse, a warm, medium brown.
In this tutorial, I’m challenging myself to create a complete monochromatic makeup look using a 3 in 1 makeup stick, featuring the Moocha Mousse shade.
I’ll show you how to incorporate this versatile product in multiple ways, from eyes to lips and even contouring.
This look is especially great for those with hooded eyes. Let’s get started!

Applying foundation
1. Foundation
Start by applying your foundation. Use your fingers to distribute it across your face first. Then, buff the foundation into your skin using a brush.

Setting the foundation
2. Set with a damp sponge
Take a damp makeup sponge and press over your foundation. This will ensure there are no streaky marks left from the brush.

Applying eye makeup
3. Apply eyeshadow
For the eyes, we’re using an eye pencil in a chocolate shade, very close to the Pantone Moocha Mousse shade.
Warm up the pencil by swiping it on the back of your hand first. Then, use a small makeup brush to pick up the product and buff it onto your eyelids.
This technique is especially great for hooded eyes because you can apply it all over the lid and even take it higher toward the brow bone, creating a more open, lifted look.

Applying eye makeup
4. Blend the eyeshadow
Use a fluffy blending brush to smooth out the edges of the eyeshadow. This will help create a more seamless, gradient look, blending the color into your skin tone.

Applying eye makeup
5. Layer the color
Add another layer of the pencil, following the same technique as before. Repeat this process until you're happy with the depth of the color.

Applying eye makeup
6. Lower lash line
Using a small pencil brush, apply the product close to the root of the eyelashes, starting from the outer corner.
Be sure to connect the outer corner of your lower lash line with the top lid, as this will help frame your eye.

Applying eye makeup
7. Waterline
Take the same pencil and apply it along your waterline for added definition.
Let the product dry, and then apply a second coat along your waterline. You can even add a third coat if you want a more defined line.

Applying eye makeup
8. Apply concealer
To create a flawless finish around the eyes, take a hydrating concealer and dab a small amount onto the back of your hand.
Using a fluffy blending brush, pick up the product and gently buff it along the edges of your eyeshadow.

Curling the lashes
9. Apply mascara
Curl your lashes and then apply an eyelash primer to enhance your lashes, followed by mascara to define and lift them.

Applying false lashes
10. Individual lashes
If you want extra volume or a more flirtatious look, apply individual lashes.
For a soft, wispy effect, use dovetail or fishtail lashes. Start at the outer edge of your lash line with the longest lashes.

Applying concealer
11. Touch-up concealer
Go back to your serum concealer and apply it to any areas that need more coverage. I tend to focus on the center of the face, where I get a little redness.

12. Adding glow and coverage to the cheeks
Take a tinted product and apply a small amount to a highlighter brush.
Gently buff the product over the concealer on your cheeks. This adds coverage while giving a beautiful glow to the skin.

Applying concealer
13. Brighten under the eyes
Apply a bit more concealer under your eyes to brighten the area and give a refreshed look.
For a lifting effect, apply a little bit of concealer to the outer corners of your eyes to lift the eyeshadow and give a subtle lift.

Contouring the face
14. Contour face
Take your chocolate eye pencil and place a small amount on the back of your hand to warm it up.
Mix this with some foundation or concealer to create a soft, warm, contour shade. Then use this to sculpt your face.

Applying blush
15. Apply blush
To create a bronzy blush, mix a bit more of the chocolate pencil with the concealer or foundation you’ve already blended on the back of your hand.
Apply this to the back half of your cheeks for a warm, natural flush.

Setting the skin
16. Set the skin
Use a setting powder to set your makeup in place, ensuring it lasts throughout the day.

Applying lip balm
17. Lips
Apply lip balm, and then use the chocolate brown eye pencil to line your lips and fill them in for a defined, natural lip color.
